From a young age, I knew I was meant to work with animals. My passion for veterinary medicine started early and, with determination and unwavering support from my family, I earned my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine by the age of 23. My journey also included service in the U.S. Army, which not only helped me pursue my education but also led me to meet my husband—my partner in life and in business.
As a military family, we had the privilege of living across the country, gaining valuable experiences along the way. After welcoming our first child, we felt the pull to return home to Minnesota, where we could lay down roots and build something lasting. In 2020, we made that move—and shortly after, our dream of opening a family-owned companion animal practice began to take shape.
Sirius Veterinary Care was founded in 2022 and officially opened its doors in July 2023. The name “Sirius” reflects several inspirations: it’s the brightest star in the Canis Major constellation, a nod to our commitment to canine (and feline) health; a play on the word “serious,” emphasizing the level of care we provide; and a tribute to Sirius Black, a beloved character from the Harry Potter series.
When I’m not caring for patients or managing the clinic, I spend as much time as possible with my husband and our four wonderful children. I love being outdoors—whether it’s hiking, biking, walking, or simply soaking in the sunshine. When the weather keeps us inside, you’ll find me reading a good book or enjoying family game nights. At the heart of everything I do is my faith and my family; they are my greatest motivation and joy.

Dr. Jennifer Freitag grew up in Sheldon, Iowa, and developed a love for animals and medicine at an early age. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 2014 and has been caring for small animals ever since.
Dr. Freitag is passionate about practicing compassionate, practical medicine and believes the best outcomes happen when veterinarians and pet owners work as a team. She especially enjoys internal medicine and dentistry, and values helping families make informed decisions that feel right for both them and their pets. She is passionate about protecting and strengthening the human–animal bond that makes pets such an important part of the family.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Freitag enjoys spending time with her children, whether that is biking, hiking or family game nights. She loves staying active, exploring new places, and making meaningful memories with the people she cares about. She feels grateful to be part of a profession that allows her to support the special bond between pets and the families who love them.

My name is Kendra and I am from Coon Rapids MN. My love for animals started when I was little and my passion for veterinary medicine grew in my teenage years after my sister purchased a beef farm. I went on to veterinary school and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2024. I am working on passing my licensing exam and cannot wait to meet all your furry family members! When I am not working or studying I enjoy hunting, fishing, cooking, baking, spending time with my dog, Mojo, and with family and friends.

Veterinary medicine has been my second home for over 15 years, and I truly love what I do. Building genuine connections with clients and their pets is the most rewarding part of my work, and I’m committed to making every visit a positive and comfortable experience for both pets and their people.
In 2017, I earned a degree in medical billing and coding, which has strengthened my ability to support both the medical and administrative sides of veterinary care.
Outside of work, I cherish time with my husband and two daughters. We enjoy spending time outdoors, going on adventures with our dog Wallace, and making the most of every season. I also love beach days, swimming, movies, concerts, fishing and camping. And if I can brighten someone’s day with a little humor, it always makes mine too!

Hello! My name is Shannon, and I’ve been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2002.
I genuinely love all aspects of the veterinary field, but client education and patient care bring me the greatest joy. Teaching pet owners how to best care for their furry companions and treating every patient as if they were my own is what I’m most passionate about.
I’m a proud mom of three amazing kids who are growing up far too fast! Our home is full of love—and fur—with three cats and three dogs keeping things lively.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of every chance to be out on the lake.

My name is Erica and I was once that little girl patching up a neighborhood squirrel with dreams of one day becoming a veterinarian. Fast forward a few years (no need to count how many), and I am just finishing up my first year of vet school at the University of Minnesota! I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician for 8 years, and in the veterinary industry for over 10. I have specialized training in anesthesia and sonography, and a passion for personalized patient care in order to provide a level of care I’d expect for my own fur babies.
When I’m not working or in school, you can find me with my husband, two beautiful children, two dogs, one cat, and a small flock of chickens. Stay tuned: a small hobby farm is sure to follow.

My name is Jolene, what can I say I have been an animal lover since I can remember! I started my veterinary journey in 2011 as an assistant/receptionist. It didn’t take long for me to know this was without a doubt the field for me. I gained my A.A.S. degree and Certification in 2015 from Minnesota School of Business. I take a special interest in surgical and dental procedures and love the comfort I can bring to clients knowing their fur babies are in the best hands pre-op, during, and post procedures.
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and friends. We enjoy fishing year round, kayaking, snowmobiling, and challenging each other to a game of darts.

My name is Jenna, I am 30 years old and am currently enrolled in school to get my certified veterinary technician license. My husband served in the USMC for 11 years and we have lived in California, Tennessee and now permanently live in Minnesota. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. I have been in the veterinary field since 2015, but my love for animals started well before then. When not at work I am most likely to be with my kids and husband outside or at the cabin. We love to travel, and spend a lot of time in Cincinnati with my in-laws. I like to call myself the “resident golden girl” as we have two golden retrievers at home and have fostered countless golden’s over the years. I treat all patients as if they are my own pets, and I love the bond we share with our animals.

Hi! My name is Jade, and I’ve been working as a Veterinary Assistant for over three years. I truly enjoy helping pets feel safe and cared for during their visits and supporting their owners through the process.

I love working with and caring for all animals. I have four fur-babies of my own, two dogs named Meeko and Axel, and two cats named Nova and Luna. Originally, I went to school for education but found my way into the animal health field. I enjoy every second of being a veterinary assistant and cherish the hands-on learning experience it provides. In my spare time, I adore taking long walks with my dogs and spending quality time with my family.

Hello, my name is Amanda! I always knew from a very young age that I would have a career centered around animals. Since beginning my journey with veterinary medicine in 2015, I’ve cultivated a deep passion for animal care and client relationships.
Although I couldn’t finish my veterinary technician degree due to the closing of my school, I found my way to Baudette, Minnesota shortly after, where I ended up managing a fishing guide service on Lake of the Woods for 6 years. In 2022, I returned home so I could be closer to my family and ended up reentering the veterinary field, where I began working at my first hospital.
My greatest joy for working in the animal field comes from building lasting connections with my clients and their beloved pets. I’ve been fortunate to share my life with my two soul dogs: my Wheaten Terrier, Mia, and my late Newfie mix, Annie.
In my free time, I enjoy anything that gets me outside, especially hunting, fishing, and hiking. I also love traveling, concerts, scary movies, getting tattoos, cooking, being up north on a lake, long walks with my dog, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

Hi! My name is Nicki and I began working in the field in 2017. My husband and I share two dogs- our confrontational (and sweet!) chihuahua mix Jax, a happy as can be lab named Boone, and two very patient cats- Oso and Migo. My love for the outdoors is rivaled by my love for being at home with my boys, reading and watching movies. If you want to nerd out about Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, I’m your gal!
I truly cherish every part of working in this field but I especially hold dear our geriatric patients and those whom have lost a beloved fur family member. My late soul dog (of 16 blessed years!) continues to deepen my determination to lead with empathy, compassion and kindness. I’m honored to be here for you and your fur babies!
